About DuPuis

DuPuis means “from wells” in French, reflecting winemaker Wells Guthrie’s old-world, artisanal approach to winemaking and his nickname when working alongside winemaking legend Michel Chapoutier in the Rhone Valley and at world-renowned Domaines Dujac and Mugnier in Burgundy.
After his time in France, Wells founded and successfully led Copain Wines in the Russian River Valley until its sale to Jackson Family Estates in 2014 but wanted to return to his roots with DuPuis.
Our estate is located high above Boonville in Anderson Valley on a 40-acre hillside parcel that includes an olive grove and redwood forest. It is here that we built our small winery not just as a place to make wine, but to put down family roots, tend to the organically farmed vines as a life’s work and create a place for community.

“We believe in quality over quantity, in freshness and delicacy over power and wood and in balanced and expressive wines that belong at the table. Making these wines isn’t just my profession, it is my and my family’s life.”
